Strauben

Mix flour, milk, melted butter, egg yolks and schnapps into a smooth, liquid batter. Lightly beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt, then whip with the sugar until stiff and gently fold into the batter.
Heat oil or fat in a shallow pan. Pour the batter into a funnel and, starting from the center, pour it in a spiral into the hot oil. Fry the Strauben on both sides until golden. Drain on kitchen paper and place on a plate.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve with cranberry jam or apple sauce.

200 g flour
250 ml milk
20 g melted butter
3 egg yolks
3 egg whites
20 ml schnapps
50 g sugar
Salt
Frying oil or fat
