Discover Ötzi’s living environment

At the archaeological open-air museum in Unser Frau, everything revolves around Ötzi, the Iceman. Visitors learn how and where he was discovered in 1991 and how he and his contemporaries lived 5,300 years ago.

Highlights of the exhibition include authentic reconstructions of Stone Age houses (outdoor area) as well as replicas of Ötzi’s clothing, weapons and tools (indoor area). The tour takes about one hour (route 1). Demonstrations of Stone Age fire-making take place every hour.

Families and anyone interested in traditional crafts should allow extra time for the visitor workshop and also visit the archery range and the dugout canoe platform (routes 1–3, approx. 3–4 hours).
