Experience tradition, preserve knowledge

The Transhumance Campus in Unser Frau in the Schnalstal Valley is dedicated to one of the oldest cultural traditions of the Alps: seasonal livestock migration. At its heart is the Schnalstal transhumance, a spectacular sheep drive across the Alpine ridge, recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2019.

The campus is a place of learning, exchange and encounter. Here, knowledge, stories and experiences related to transhumance are preserved and shared. Visitors gain fascinating insights into the life of shepherds, historic routes and the importance of this tradition for alpine landscapes and culture.

Through exhibitions, events and educational programs, the campus connects past and present, making transhumance accessible and tangible for both locals and international guests.

A unique place where living tradition, alpine culture and sustainability come together.
