Climbing in the Schnalstal Valley – action on the rock

The Schnalstal Valley in South Tyrol offers ideal conditions for climbing in all its forms: alpine climbing, sport climbing, bouldering and varied via ferratas. High above the valley floor, vertical rock faces, fresh mountain air and breathtaking views create unforgettable moments.

Beginners and families will find perfect routes for their first climbing experiences at the Marchegg climbing garden near Kurzras. Experienced climbers can look forward to demanding challenges at the Mastaun climbing garden near Unser Frau and at the climbing garden below Juval Castle.

Highlights include the Larix via ferrata in Maso Corto and the Hoachwool via ferrata at the entrance to the valley. Additional fun and adventure await at the Ötzi Rope Park, a modern high ropes course for all ages at Vernagt Reservoir.

Larix Via Ferrata

The 'Larix' (larch in Latin) via ferrata with suspension bridges, exciting rope slides and a parallel hiking trail will be available.The challenging via ferrata is of medium difficulty and also suitable for experienced families. The entrance is located at the foot of the large Kurzrasbach waterfall and leads towards the Teufelsegg hut. The 'Alpin Trail' hiking trail runs partly along this, allowing you to observe and accompany the climbers. Whether you are a leisurely hiker or an arduous climber, you will find what you are looking for here.

Prerequisite: via ferrata equipment (rental in Maso Corto at Service Stricker or Ski Factory Maso Corto).
