Historic farmsteads, family-run alpine huts and comfortable mountain refuges
One of the defining features of the Schnalstal Valley is its high-altitude mountain inns, some of which are located at nearly 3,000 metres above sea level.
Despite their often remote locations, many of these alpine huts combine modern comfort with the authentic charm of traditional mountaineers’ lodgings. Many Schnalstal mountain inns are several hundred years old, carefully built in sheltered yet scenic locations.
Often family-run for generations, these huts also preserve culinary traditions. Their menus feature South Tyrolean specialties such as homemade dumplings, local game and lamb dishes.
