The public transport network in South Tyrol is integrated into the südtirolmobil system, connecting cities, villages, valleys and important tourist destinations. The network includes regional, urban and Citybus services as well as regional trains. Several cable cars, the Ritten narrow-gauge railway and the Mendel funicular are also part of the system. The railway network includes, among others, the Vinschgau Railway between Mals and Merano, the Merano-Bolzano railway line and the Puster Valley Railway. In total, passengers can use more than 200 bus lines, 4 railway lines and several cable cars.

Different types of tickets are available for public transport and can be selected according to the journey, length of stay and individual needs. Bus and train fares are calculated using a system of around 260 fare zones. In general, tickets must be validated before the start of the journey unless they are already activated digital or Contactless tickets. Children under the age of 6 travel free of charge and do not require a ticket. The transportation of bicycles and animals is generally subject to an additional charge and certain conditions.

With the südtirolmobil app, passengers can search for connections, check timetables and purchase various tickets directly on their smartphone. Timetables and up-to-date information for individual lines are also available online. The public transport network therefore offers a convenient, sustainable and affordable way to explore South Tyrol without a car. Further information about routes, timetables, tickets and fares can be found on the official südtirolmobil website: www.suedtirolmobil.info.
