The green lower valleys filled with orchards and meadows characterize the natural, cultural landscape of Laces. In spring, the valley is transformed into a sea of white flowers between the fertile Alpine environment of the Monte Tramontana and the harsh, dry landscape around Monte Sole. The Val Martello Alpine gateway heralds the entrance to another world.

Besides the characteristic stone-paved roads around Laces and Val Martello, there are also some of the most beautiful irrigation channel trails to be found anywhere in South Tyrol. Behind them lies the Stelvio National Park, with the glacier and imposing 3,000 m peaks of the majestic Ortler-Cevedale Mountain Range overlooking this diverse natural Alpine world of flora and fauna. The traditional mountain shelters immersed in this stunningly beautiful natural environment are still functioning, welcoming visitors to try the local Alpine cheeses.
