Trailrun: Circuit round the Vernagt reservoir

A delightful scenic circuit of the lake requiring some concentration.

Directions

The starting point is the Vernagt | Vernago car park (limited parking available).

The lake circuit around the reservoir in Vernagt, built in the 1950s at 1,700 metres above sea level, is a perfect beginners' tour that can be done both clockwise and anti-clockwise. There are hardly any metres in altitude to conquer. The path on the sunny slope is very easy to walk, on the wooded side the path is a little more technical due to roots and stones. The start and finish is the car park at the dam.

Tip: There are information boards about the construction of the dam with historical pictures at the Leiterkirche church in Vernagt.
Caution: In spring, there is a risk of avalanches on the shady side of the lake, even if the lake path itself should already be free of snow.
