Romaneque days

Guided tours/unguided tours 10/11/2025 - 10/12/2025 South Tyrol
Churches, monasteries, castles and palaces: during the 'Romanesque Days' on 11 and 12 October 2025, 33 cultural sites throughout South Tyrol and neighbouring Switzerland will open their doors for free guided tours.

Immerse yourself in the monastic life of yesteryear, enter otherwise inaccessible chapels, peek behind castle walls – these and other extraordinary experiences are made possible by the ‘Romanesque Days’.

Free and exclusive guided tours allow visitors to admire the hidden beauty and historical secrets of well-known and lesser-known monuments and sacred buildings from the period between 950 and the mid-13th century.

The journey back in time to the Romanesque period leads from the Vinschgau Valley via the Burggrafenamt and the Unterland to the Puster Valley: to mystical places such as St. Veit's Church on the Tartscher Bühel, to castles such as Hocheppan and Burg Taufers, and to monasteries such as St. Johann in Müstair (CH) and Marienberg near Burgeis.

In Naturns, there is an exciting lecture on ‘Uncertain Times in the Middle Ages’ in St. Prokulus Church. Tramin offers two gems with rich fresco cycles. The programme also includes the exhibition ‘Outrage! Neustift Monastery in the Peasants' Revolt’ in the Engelsburg in Neustift and a quiz for children in Prissian at St. Jakob's Church.
