Etschtal Cycle Path (Etschradroute) along the Via Claudia Augusta
The old Roman trade route Via Claudia Augusta, which crossed the Alps at the Resia Pass, runs through the Val Venosta. The 80km-long Etschradweg - with its unique Bahn&Bike service - traces the old route and is a very popular cycle trail.

Panoramic journey with the Vinschger Bahn railway
The Vinschger Bahn railway is one of Europe’s most modern regional railways. Journeys afford passengers fantastic views of the natural and cultivated landscapes of South Tyrol as framed by large panoramic windows. The train tracks extend through the valley from Merano/Meran to Malles/Mals, passing Schloss Kastelbell castle, the marble blocks of Lasa/Laas and the Tartscher Bühel hill near Malles.

Schloss Churburg castle - Europe's largest armoury collection
The Coira Castle near Sluderno/Schluderns is one of the most impressive renaissance castles in the Alps. It was first officially mentioned under this name in 1256. The castle boasts a significant armor and weapons collection, as well as artistic gems like the Jacob Chapel, the Jacob Room and arcades.

The panoramic pass road starting from Trafoi in the Stelvio National Park – Italy’s largest nature reserve - is a true challenge for cyclists and bikers. It is one of the most winding, most challenging routes in the world, and is also one of the stages of the "Giro d'Italia".

Lasa marble - The famous rock from South Tyrol
The marble from Lasa is extremely pure and is used around the world. The quarry is near Lasa. This stone mason village is a meeting point for artists, literati and musicians: they showcase their skills at the annual "Marmor und Marillen" [Marble and apricots] event.

Waalwege canal trails - historical paths along the water
„Waalwege“ is the name for the hiking paths along narrow irrigation channels throughout the Venosta Valley, used for centuries to irrigate the fields in the valley. Approximately two dozen of these characteristic paths can be walked. They offer great views of the surrounding mountain chain throughout the year.

Ortler Alpine ridgeway in the Stilfserjoch National Park
The Ortler High Mountain Trail leads around the highest peak in South Tyrol, through Stilfserjoch National Park and into Lombardy’s Veltlin valley. Starting and finishing at the top of the Stilfserjoch pass, it covers a distance of nearly 120 km. It is typically divided into seven day-long stages, which can also be tackled as individual one-day excursions, and is one of the most demanding high-altitude routes in the entire Alps.
