Schloss Goldrain Education & Culture
Education and Culture in the Renaissance Castle in Goldrain/Coldrano
On the sunny side of the Vinschgau valley stands Goldrain Castle—one of South Tyrol’s most significant Renaissance structures. Its origins date back to the 12th century. Over the centuries, the former manor house evolved into an impressive castle, shaped by the spirit of the Renaissance and the noble Hendl family. In particular, the imposing south facade with the “piano nobile”—the stately living and reception rooms—still bears witness to this glorious era today.
Historic vaulted cellars, an elegant colonnade, artfully decorated parlors, and the magnificent Knights’ Hall tell of times gone by and offer a glimpse into the domestic culture of the Alpine region.
Today, Goldrain Castle uniquely bridges the past and the present. Since 1987, the lovingly restored castle has served as a center for education, community, and culture. As an educational center in the Vinschgau valley, it offers a diverse program featuring innovative seminars, conferences, and continuing education courses. At the same time, the inner courtyard, the Knights’ Hall, and the historic vaulted cellars create a unique atmosphere for concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events.
The castle’s unique atmosphere makes every event a memorable experience. Whether it’s a seminar, workshop, retreat, conference, or concert—the peaceful setting, historic architecture, and excellent acoustics provide the ideal setting for inspiring gatherings. The experience is rounded out by the guesthouse and the restaurant located in the former stable.
