Montesole Trail (Sunny Benny)

General description

The Montesole Trail (Sunny Benny) is rightly considered one of the most beautiful trails in the Alps. This almost year-round ride leads through the striking cultural landscape of the sunny Vinschgau slopes and offers a truly unique mountain biking experience surrounded by sunshine, nature, and breathtaking panoramas.

Access is either conveniently via the St. Martin cable car or by road from Kastelbell. At certain times, bikes are transported by cable car, while passenger transport runs on an hourly schedule. Even the ascent rewards riders with stunning views of the Nörderberg and the surrounding glaciers, building anticipation for the ride ahead.

After a short asphalt section of about one kilometer, trail no. 9 branches off into the first warming section with roots and natural terrain. Following another short stretch of forest road, the main trail begins around the Birchaböden area: smooth, flowing forest sections alternate with more technical rocky passages, offering a varied and highly enjoyable ride.

For a relaxing break, both the mountain guesthouse and the Oberkaser farm tavern provide excellent options to rest and enjoy the alpine atmosphere.

The section across the suspension bridge is unfortunately no longer allowed for mountain biking. However, just before the bridge it is still possible to turn right onto trail no. 5 and descend towards Tiss (only for experienced riders, difficulty S3).
