Day of the Romanesque

The Day of the Romanesque will be held on 12th October, 2019. On this day in Venosta Valley, which is located on the “Alpine Road of Romanesque Art”, free tours are organized around the many churches and chapels but also of secular buildings dating to the early Middle Ages.

Together with the adjacent Swiss Müstair Valley, Venosta is home to some of the oldest surviving churches in continental Europe. On this day, 28 Romanesque heritage sites will open their doors and provide insight into the unique architectural and artistic elements from the period between 700-1300 AD.
