1825-2025: Let's celebrate the anniversary!
The Stelvio Pass road turns 200 years old.

2758 meters high at the pass, 46.5 km in total, 88 hairpin turns, and 7 tunnels: these are the record numbers of the Stelvio Pass road, a legendary route and one of the highest roads in Europe. For two centuries, the queen of alpine roads has connected the Valtellina, South Tyrol, and Val Müstair, establishing itself as an icon in the world of cycling, thanks its part to the 12 times it has served as the Cima Coppi of the Giro d'Italia. A myth and legend that year after year enrich and write new pages of a glorious and timeless story.

from 1825 ...

Since 1825, the year of completion and opening, the Stelvio Pass road has radically changed the face of the central Alps, becoming a symbol that goes beyond the simple function of an alpine pass: it is a bridge between different cultures, a timeless sports icon, and a masterpiece of engineering. The 88 hairpin turns leading to the Stelvio, climbing up to 2758 meters, have written the legend of cycling, skiing, and epic high-altitude challenges.

... to 2025

Today, the Stelvio Pass road presents itself as an authentic alpine icon, rooted in the hearts of travelers from all over the world, serving as a valuable bridge between Valtellina, South Tyrol, and Val Müstair. It also remains a stage for memorable chapters of history, sports, and culture. This is the living essence of the Stelvio.
