Hiking and Mountaineering in the Stelvio National Park in the Ortler Region
Family hikes, hiking trails and mountain tours around the Ortler in Venosta Valley
With a network of over 250 km of marked trails, the diverse high-Alpine landscape of the Stelvio National Park forms one of the most popular walking areas in South Tyrol. On and around the Ortles, visitors can take advantage of themed trails, mountain hikes and alpine climbs to suit all levels of difficulty and challenge. The Ortler-Cevedale massif contains some of the highest peaks and broadest valleys in the Eastern Alps.
The diverse assortment of activities on offer ranges from family walks along waterways to challenging walks through coniferous forests reaching Alpine pastures and mountain huts. For those who like to push themselves, the range of activities even extends to several-day mountain expeditions in ever-present ice at altitudes of over 3,900m. The Ortler region’s two Alpine schools - the “Feel the Mountains” Alpine School and the Ortler Alpine School – help active holidaymakers get the best out of exploring the diverse natural landscape, offering a comprehensive program for guests of all ages.
