The Churburg Castle in Sluderno/Schluderns is one of the best-preserved castles in the state and counts among the most important cultural attractions of the Upper Venosta Valley region. The artistic focal point of the castle is its arcade passageway, lavishly decorated with 16th century frescoes, while the armory – home to the largest private collection of medieval armor in Europe – gives insights into the castle’s military past. Also worth seeing are the 900-year-old Marienberg Benedictine Abbey at (located higher than any other in Europe), the Early Roman churches St. Johann in Prato/Prad and St. Benedict in Malles/Mals and the marble quarries in Lasa/Laas.
