Ski tour to the Piz Sielva mountain

Ski tour through a romantic winter landscape home to wild animals.

General description

Head past the Stilfser Alm Alpine farm into the broad valley and up to Piz Sielva mountain. This tour to Piz Sielva leads you past the Stilfser Höfe farms and Untere Stilfser Alm Alpine farm. Even the journey to the starting point, which takes in a section of the Stilfserjoch pass road, is packed with attractions including colourful sculptures and artworks at the entrance to the village of Schmelz. This tour is highly popular among locals and visitors alike.

Route description

Starting from the “Vallatsches Hof” farm, follow a small path up to the meadow trail. This leads you left and into the broad valley as far as the Untere Stilfser Alm Alpine farm. After you head left past the farm, you will soon find yourself beneath a large, broad slope. Cross this slope via the ridge, which features a subtle profile, and make your way up to a section of level terrain. Continue on through a hollow, then bear diagonally right into the small cirque. Head up to the left until you are below the right-hand ridge, which merges into a small, flat hollow. Go south through this hollow until you reach the end, after which the highest point of the tour – the Piz Sielva at 2,787 m – will be slightly to your left.
