Texel Group Nature Park in Schnalstal Valley – 50 years of South Tyrol’s largest nature park
With over 30,000 hectares, the Texel Group Nature Park is the largest protected area in South Tyrol and celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026. Stretching between the Schnalstal Valley, Passeiertal Valley, Adige Valley and the Ötztal Alps, it offers an impressive high alpine landscape with remarkable biodiversity.
In the Schnalstal Valley, the park shapes the landscape in a unique way. Sunny steppe slopes, dense spruce forests, alpine meadows and crystal-clear mountain lakes make this region one of the most attractive hiking areas in South Tyrol. Particularly impressive is the Pfossental Valley, an untouched side valley in the heart of the park, known for its rich wildlife. More chamois and ibex live here than people in the entire Schnalstal Valley.
A special highlight is the alpine pasture experience trail in the Pfossental Valley, leading from Vorderkaser to Eishof. Along the route, informative panels and interactive stations provide insights into this unique natural and cultural landscape.
For 50 years, the Texel Group Nature Park has stood for the protection of this valuable environment and for sustainable nature experiences. The Schnalstal Valley is therefore the perfect destination for discovering unspoiled alpine nature and tranquility in South Tyrol.
