Traditional
farmer's markets,
weekly and
annual markets have been held without interruption for many centuries in the Venosta Valley. Natural groceries and traditional specialties – these are the products you will find in South Tyrolean markets: from old-style marmalade and organic bread, traditional
smoked ham, sausages,
pasture cheese and herbal teas to fresh
asparagus or organic farm-grown eggs.
On particular days, the traditional markets also become social events: on 2 November the
Allerseelenmarkt market takes place in the
small medieval town of Glorenza/Glurns, in mid-June the
St. Johann market is held
in Prato/Prad, in mid-October there is the
Gollimorkt market in Malles/Mals and at the end of November the
Katharina market in Sluderno/Schluderns takes place with a colorful array of goods, culinary products, music and events. The main focus is always on social interaction.
