Barbarossa-Trail

General description

The Barbarossa Trail on Monte Tramontana (Nörderberg) above Laces offers first-class singletrail fun at S2 difficulty. The climb starts in Laces and requires around 1,300 meters of elevation gain up to Tarscher Alm, demanding a good level of fitness. For a more comfortable option, you can take the bike shuttle from Laces train station to the lower station of the chairlift. From there, you can either continue comfortably by chairlift or climb via the forest road up to Platzleng, above the lower station of the Tarscher Alm chairlift (about 760 meters of elevation gain).

Once at the top, you are rewarded with impressive panoramic views. A stop is recommended either at Tarscher Alm or the Berggasthof Tarscher Alm.

The flowy descent then begins on the Barbarossa Trail, named after its builder Gabriel Tappeiner. The trail covers about 4.5 km and 600 meters of elevation loss, winding through dense forest, fun traverses, and varied corners, ending at Platzleng above the chairlift valley station.

From there, you can either roll back down comfortably via the forest road to the valley station or choose the Roatbrunn Trail (S3) towards Tarsch. For this option, you need to pedal a short section of about 500 meters back along the forest road in the direction of Tarscher Alm before the trail branches off to the right.
