Hike on the Gschneierwaal Canal Trail in Schluderns/ Sluderno
 

Route description

From the Schludernser park on the north-eastern edge of the village (921 m), always follow the signpost 18A Grafensteig on a narrow footpath through the forest in 20 minutes up to Churburg castle, then on path 21 north-eastwards through meadows slightly uphill to Schlorenthof farm and onwards, finally a good stretch on the narrow road leading to Tanas, to the Gschneir farmstead group (1344 m); from Schluderns 1:30 hours. From there, follow the signpost ‘Gschneirer Waal’ on footpath 23 through meadows in about 10 minutes up to the irrigation channel and now on the good channel path, first through open slopes with beautiful views and then through coniferous forest, past a "Waalschelle", on a level hike to the end of the open irrigation channel above the Greinhof farm. From there, follow the ‘Schluderns’ signpost on the path marked no. 20A down to the Berkwaal and continue along this to the Vernalhof farm to the starting point in Schluderns.
