Tour to Alp Schlinig

Mals - Schleis - Polsterhof - Schlinig - Alp Schlinig - Mals

General description

Do not fall in love with the high valley of Schlinig - former stopping place of smugglers on the way to Switzerland.

Route description
Anticipating the Schlinig valley, the tour starts from Mals station via the village center to Schleis. There turn left up to the "Polsterhof", and shortly afterwards cycle along the forest path along the Melzbach stream, alternating between forest and meadows, to Schlinig (1.725 m). The cooler north-facing slope comes in handy on hot summer days. Cross the small village of Schlinig and keep left at the cross-country skiing centre and then always on the forest road towards the Alp Schlinig, which invites you to linger. A short walk back into the high valley is very worthwhile. The return tour is via the approach route or via the country road past the Marienberg monastery via Burgeis to Schleis and back to Mals.
