The Church of S. Giacomo near Söles was first mentioned in a record in 1220. In 1499, the church was set on fire after the Calvenschlacht battle and rebuilt as a Gothic church in 1570/1580. During the renovation by the new owners, the Rizzi family from Laces/Latsch, part of a small former church were uncovered with Romanesque wall paintings. The significance of these findings for Romanesque wall painting reaches far beyond the country's borders.
