General description

Zaalwaal
A hike along a picturesque irrigation channel, or Waal, near Schlanders with fabulous views of the chestnut groves and orchards that carpet the Vinschgau Valley.

Route description

From the centre of Kortsch above Schlanders, the tour leads upwards to the small church of St. Ägidius until path no. 6A detours to the left. A steep route leads through the vineyards up to Zaalwaal. From here, it leads westwards to the "Kortscher Leiten" meadows past two former mills.

The sports ground above Kortsch is the Zaalwaal trail destination. There the ancient irrigation channel follows the underground tube systems.

From Reschen or Meran to Schlanders/Kortsch.

Parking

The car can be parked at the parish church parking place.

Public transport

By the Venosta train to Schlanders and by the Citybus to Kortsch.
