White cabbage, grown in the area surrounding Lasa, is cut and fermented so that it is preserved by lactic acid. The resulting sauerkraut contains all the vitamins needed to stay fit and healthy through the winter. It’s said to taste especially good as a hearty “Marende”, or afternoon snack, in the Törggelen season. In these autumn weeks the locals, and hopefully you as well, make preparations to keep fit and healthy in the coming winter months.
