“Zusslrennen”, “Goasslschnölln”, “Tuifl”, “Maschger”. Old customs are kept alive in the village of Prato/Prad, at the entrance to the Suldental and Trafoital Valleys. Each year on certain days, colourful clothing, loud singing, and dancing are employed to drive out the winter and wake the grain from its sleep. May is “whipped in” and the “Tuifl” (Devil) accompanies St Nicolas on his rounds through the village. Prato savours these and many other customs and traditions, historical local images, and stories from the village during these autumn days. Old regional dishes are on the menu and a traditional festival leads you through a yearly cycle that’s rich in tradition.
