Archaik Trail

General description

This classic among our trails takes us along historic paths and abandoned irrigation channels to the cosy mountain village of Stilfs and back to the starting point.

Route description
From the upper Suldenbach bridge the trail leads briefly on asphalt and continues on trail no. 11 to the Mitterhof and Patzleidhof farms. We walk past the barbecue area of Patzleid and take the archaic trail no. 11 to reach the mountain village of Stilfs across the ancient settlement site “Kaschlin-Bühel”. From there, the trail descends quite steeply to the hamlet Stilfserbrücke where the route leads out of the valley along the Agumser mountain irrigation channel, very exposed in some spots, and back to the barbecue area of Patzleid. From there we walk down to the “Frauwaalweg” irrigation channel path. We leave the valley across three installed bridges until, shortly after the bridges, the path descends into the valley. On the orographic left side of the Suldenbach stream we finally walk the last kilometre back to the starting point. TIP: It’s worth making a detour to the ancient settlement site “Kaschlin-Bühel”.
