Venosta Valley is an ideal place, in terms of its length and the variety of its landscapes, for being discovered by bicycle. The level bicycle trails around Prato allo Stelvio/Prad am Stilfserjoch run throughout the entire valley ground, and are particularly suitable for weekend cyclists, bicycling enthusiasts and families.

Cycle Trail Along the Adige River
Cycling enthusiasts love the 80 km long cycle trail along the Adige River, which runs slightly downhill along the tracks of the ancient Roman trade road, the Via Claudia Augusta. The trail can be cycled from Northwest to Southeast towards the spa town of Merano/Meran, or vice-versa, upwards to the Resia Lake.

Starting from Prato allo Stelvio, cyclists can discover the entire Venosta Valley on the tracks of the ancient Via Claudia Augusta, as the cycle trail follows the route built by the Romans over 2000 years ago. The track leads through magnificent apple and fruit orchards, past castles and monasteries. Moreover, the Via Claudia Augusta cycle trail offers numerous cultural highlights, from Roman times to medieval castles up to contemporary architecture.

It is also possible to make the Adige Trail trip partly by train. Along the cycle trail, there are seven stations of the Venostan railway from Malles to Merano. Not only is the train at your disposal, but at every single train station it is possible to rent a bicycle and return it at another station.
