Snoweshoehike to the Malga Lyfi/Lyfialm alp

General description

This scenic snowshoe hike ascends up to the lofty heights of the quaint Lyfialm Alpine farm.{MQ}

Route description

It begins at the car park at the end of the Martelltal valley. Below the Enzian tavern, signposted trail no. 8 to the Enzianalm Alpine farm branches off from the road and crosses the Pedertalbach stream. From here, trail no. 39 branches off, leading up to the Peder-Stieralm Alpine farm. By now it is high time to strap on the snowshoes to ascend the steep and well-trodden trail to the highest point of the circular hike, the Peder-Stieralm Alpine farm. It is now an easy hike on trail no. 35 to the Lyfialm (working farm). Enjoy magnificent views of the peaks of the Ortler range at the far end of the Martelltal valley. Having arrived at the Lyfialm, forest trail no. 8 leads back to the car park (this stretch can possibly be done without snowshoes).
