Venosta valley panoramic tour

General description

Road bike tour with view to the marble quarry, the Ortler group and the orchards of the Lasa and Sluderno Monte Sole mountain

Route description

Start in the quiet, historic center of the marble village of Lasa/Laas characterized by its “white gold”. Taken in by the panorama you first cross the village center and then apple orchards through the wonderful landscape uphill until Alliz/Allitz (1100 m). The next part to the Kirchhöfe farms (1300 m) is a bit more demanding. Enjoy the wonderful views of apple orchards and Val Venosta’s brilliant three-thousanders.

Tanas is already near. Having arrived in Tanas, turn right. You can stop to refresh yourself on the sun terrace of Gasthof Paflur just before the highest point (1580 m) of this Monte Sole mountain tour. After a short uphill part you continue along the warm, partially shady sun slope towards Sluderno/Schluderns and Coira castle which is well known beyond the borders. Continue on the well-developed Venosta valley cycle path far away from the much-used Venosta road and pass by cornfields and apple orchards through the villages of Spondigna/Spondinig, Prato allo Stelvio/Prad am Stilfserjoch and Cengles/Tschengls along the Adige river to return to Lasa.
