The Stundenweg Trail - From Monastery to Monastery

From the Monte Maria Monastery to S. Giovanni in Val Muestair

The Stundenweg trail connects Val Muestair in nearby Switzerland with Venosta Valley. The trail leads from the Benedictine abbey of Monte Maria above Malles/Mals (the highest located monastery in Europe) to the convent of S. Giovanni in Muestair, named as a UNESCO world heritage site.

This thematic route is rich in culture, history, natural surroundings and spiritual aspects. The trail stretches over an altitude of only 400m but is 17km long and takes about 6 hours to walk, and therefore requires a certain level of fitness.

Attention: The route is actual closed due to risk of falling rocks.
