The only imperial state road over the Alps – the
Via Claudia Augusta – was built almost 2000 years ago by the Romans: The road stretched from Altinum near Venice and Ostiglia at the Po River via Passo Resia/Reschenpass and the Fernpass to Donauwörth in Bavaria. Today, this route is an 80 km long cycling path, ideal for discovering Val Venosta/Vinschgau in spring and summer by train and by bicycle. Be it cycling professionals or hobby cyclists – everyone can discover nature and culture in an environmentally friendly and relaxing way.
Our tip: The bicycle rental outlets along the Adige/Etsch cycling route "Via Claudia Augusta" make it possible to return bicycles at any rental station with the "Bici Alto Adige" badge. This means you can shorten or extend your cycling tour as you go along.
