Irrigation Channel Paths

Irrigation Channel Paths around Silandro and Lasa

Along the old water courses

The irrigation channel paths are popular hiking trails in Venosta Valley which run along the mountains without significant slopes. The paths run parallel to narrow, winding waterways, which were once used to irrigate the local fields. Without these irrigation channels there would have been regular droughts due the Venosta Valley's dry climate.

Today the irrigation channel paths in Venosta Valley can be walked throughout the year, and offer a great view of the majestic surrounding mountain range and valley. The paths are popular hiking trails for families, moderate hikers and everyone who wishes to enjoy the unique flora and fauna in the entire valley.

Around Silandro and Lasa some of the most beautiful and pristine irrigation channel paths of the country can be found, like the Corzes irrigation channel path, also called Zaalwaal, the Köstenwaal, the llswaal and the Neuwaal irrigation channel path into the Schlandrauntal Valley. In Lasa, the aqueduct of Lasa impress as remnants of the former Kandlwaal.
