The Resia Pass holiday area (including Resia Lake and the smaller Lake St. Valentino
) is an authentic paradise for ice sailors. In fact, ice sailing originated due to highly practical circumstances. In the 17th Century, sailors tried to find ways of utilizing their boats even in frozen surfaces. They tried mounting blades under their small boats for transport purposes and thus ice sailing was born. Although nowadays, there is no longer the need to transport goods, the practice is continued for sporting pleasure. On Lake St. Valentino and nearby Resia Lake, ice-sailors can practice this sport from early December until the end of January
. The new practice of Parawing skiing can also be exercised on lakes Resia and S. Valentino between December and Febrary.
