Panoramic Mountains

Panoramic Mountains in Venosta Valley

From the Ötztal Alps to the Dolomites

The Ortles is the highest peak in South Tyrol (3905m), it is located in the Stelvio National Park and offers magnificent panoramic views: from the Oetztal Alps all the way to the Dolomites, and under optimal conditions, as far away as Switzerland. The ascent of the Ortles can only be done by experienced mountaineers, but the surrounding panoramic mountains on the opposing side of the valley offer great views on the majestic peaks of the Ortles, Gran Zebru and Cevedale respectively.

Another remarkable feature of Venosta Valley are the significant differences in altitude within short horizontal distances. One of the most spectacular crags is the vertical distance at Croda di Cengles mountain (in German: Tschenglser Hochwand) with approx. 2500 m between valley and peak.
