With or without snowshoes, a walk in the pristine nature in Prato allo Stelvio
, is a good way of showcasing winter in the Val Venosta. From the bottom of the valley in Prato to the sunny slopes on the surrounding mountains, there’s an unrivaled view of the Ortler and the Ötztal Alps accompanying the hiker.
Hiking with snowshoes in the Vitelli Hills, to the high pasture above Stelvio or to the Forcola Mountain Shelter is an especially rewarding, panoramic experience. Excursions to the towns of Solda and Trafoi are also not to be missed.
A particular feature of the Venosta Valley is its inner-Alpine dry climate. Even during winter it is therefore possible to enjoy snow-free path along the old irrigation channels
at the Monte Sole mountain
