The varying climatic zones in the Venosta Valley enable optimal conditions in which a wide range of agricultural products are grown and gastronomic specialities are produced for the entire Ortler region. Numerous small-scale enterprises produce fruit juices, various vinegars, herbal mountain teas, superb wines or sweet forest berries and tasty apples and pears, which are sold direct to the public. Other traditional staple products of the regional cuisine are pasture cheese,
rye, spelt, buckwheat and the famous pair bread
from Venosta Valley. Even today, the agricultural and farm products from the Venosta Valley are seasonal.
Most of the fresh farm products can be bought straight from the farm or in the markets
and farmers' shops
in the Venosta Valley. Theses products can also be enjoyed in many restaurants
in the holiday region.
