As part of the municipality of Malles/Mals with its 852 inhabitants, Burgusio/Burgeis is situated on the mountainside, at the edge of the wide expanse of the Malles Heath. First documented in 1160, the name probably dates back to an ancient Roman fort, built to defend the old Via Claudia Augusta. The historical village of Burgusio nestles on the mountainside above the Malles Heath. Burgusio is the seat of Fürstenburg Castle and the Benedictine monastery of Marienberg.

In addition, the Watles Mountain above Burgusio is an ideal starting point for different summer hikes. In winter, its wide ski slopes and magnificent mountain vistas help to make the Watles ski area an ideal destination for both families and fans of pristine nature.
