The 5 communities in Val Venosta/Vinschgau are recognised DOC growing areas. Parcines/Partschins, Naturno/Naturns, Castelbello/Kastelbell-Ciardes/Tschars, Laces/Latsch and Silandro/Schlanders. The wine-growing area comprises about 35 hectares.
Val Venosta/Vinschgau is one of the driest valleys in the Alps with the least precipitation. Thanks to more than 2000 hours of sun, the work-intensive steep slopes at Monte Sole/Sonnenberg are ideal for growing fine white wines. The wine production in Val Venosta/Vinschgau is made up with 51% of white wines and 49% of red wines. The most important wines are Blauburgunder, Riesling, Vernatsch and Weißburgunder.
